Nouns matter- This time is 'successfull'
While living , growing up , or coming from denmark.
In the environment you are in
you get affected in numerous ways,
As if you are visiting an exhibition,
well time matters, duration I mean.
But still, the observer comes from a background, but let's say we have a very flexible one. That's an important attribute of its own. So this is the one we present to you.
A very flexible observer who takes the cues and becomes the environment so easy.
This observer or participant, or even test subject reported us the following:
While living in Denmark, even though I'm not born there, but just lived for a few years. I notice myself being very focused and preocupied by my image to others. Not in a bad way. I felt I could express myself in numerous ways regarding my personal life and entertainment, provided the opportunities available (only jazz and electro and less experimental, it's a small country anyway) and I have been quite preocupied by career posibilities and life decisions.
I found in those decisions and available options, to be vulnerable and affected by what is a good career choice more than what would satisfy me. Even though they say, it's your call, and it seems so, that I can decide whatever I want, I can make my life based on my sole decisions without anybody affecting them. But really? Is that true? Looking around a bit, you can see many ways in which those decisions are influenced or directed.
To have a good successfull profesional but as well personal life. The standards are high there. Everybody should be successfull. In the most successfull country. What is considered as so? People trying to fit mostly with what identifies with the noun ''successfull'' . Numerous are the examples or exemplars of the word.
And I wouldn't say all that if I didn't have the possibility to change environment for a while and see life from another point of view.
To see my own life from my own point of view and not from the view of others and what they would think would be a successfull decision for this life.
I asked my friend last night if she is happy for her choices and said 'time will show' at first, because you'll never know what wouyld have happened, but in the core she is happy she is doing her own choices and not somebody's else.
I have to admit I have been a person that for years, has been preocupied a lot about what others think, and not in the healthy way, since everything is useful in a degree, but in a way that I was not able to change perspectives between the others and myself but mostly between different others. I could see how each of the other people would think but did not have enough courage to make choices in my own, for certain things, not everything. I have been quite independent as well, and done a lot of things on my own. Maybe this independency and solitude at times was a way to be less influenced by others, which was my weak point, my Achilles' heel. And even though, I have to recognise that it was my own prism and framings I was practicing, while looking through the others' perspectives, it could not be uninfluenced, but clearly I had my own interpretations and understanding of life.
The main topic here though is the following question.
How much people feel life ownership and how they perform that through their everyday life decisions. How much they value those decisions, and if not everyday life but the big life decisions, such as profession and career, family, or life partners and friends and so on.
We have this curse and luxury at the same time to choose and discuss about things which eitherwise should be just natural and come as so.
But we have to think about everything, sometimes.
So what do we identify as important, within our big decisions. How do we relate to our own life and how do we treat it? Do what others think matters so much in the end or are we deciding purely on our gut and with courage pursue our dreams and feelings? Or are we trying to please someone else, or fit a projected image of the successfull woman or man, if not a person?
Having too many divisions from life makes us hard to handle and focus on the main problem. Like pointing at the forest and looking at the finger. So if we think of ourselves as a gender, or a professional, or a back (applies mostly in healthcare and treatment), it's sometimes hard to see the big picture, and we get consumed in fixing small details and sometimes not see when things are fixed already, or they might not even need to be so.
On the other hand De-composing a problem to its smaller parts helps solving it. So there's no general truth that applies to everything but alternating states of attention and cognition might me the magic potion of a successfull life, if I can use this word again.
Back to the top, I was talking with a young Danish girl, student in pharmacy, and she was very much affected and preconsumed by all those images a successfull person has to follow. So it was not just my intuition. I would be very curious though to see if there is more in there and what is that affects peoples decisions and how much they identify themselves with their own lifes and is that a genuine desicion or just another trend.
The human species out of instict will trust more what another will suggest, but what about individual feelings and being connected with oneself. That we need to enhance.
They(Danes) have been accused of being too much individualistic and less thinking about their fellow humans, I would say it's all much too relative. I have seen many individualistic behaviours in the South as well , and it's not those behaviours who make people different, this is just what people say, cliches and stereotypes about countries, another way to divide people from nature and each other or themselves, or is 'identity' another fiction?
Behaviours are just symptoms, or expressions of a bigger cause.
What affects people in their actions who result in behaviors or general trends, might be humans or non humans, such as a big dense city, the population/per square meter, or the availability of resources, the quality of the resources, even the weather, or the infrastructures of the city and the goverment itself, or the laws and so on. But all is interconnected. (People) make rules or rules are made, needs are created, they they get affected and influenced by eachother. It's not only one way, bottom-up or top-down. I would say there is not hierachy, at least not as the human mind has figure out through the socioeconomical models, but a bit more flexible and relative, like an Actor-Network Theory. It is both end.
